trip Overview
Everest three-pass trek touches EBC and Gokyo Lake trek with two additional trails to the east and west of this central region. This trek can be done in both directions, clockwise or anticlockwise. Trekkers can enjoy the beauty of high landscapes in Khumbu Valley and also explore the Sagarmatha National Park. It includes three high passes each over 5,300m. This is quite a long and demanding trek because of the possibility of poor weather conditions and slow and steady ascents.
The Everest three-pass trek will start from Lukla after having a scenic flight from Kathmandu domestic airport. From Lukla, the trek leads you to Namche bazaar for a rest and acclimatization day. Before crossing Renjola, walking by the side of Sundar Peak makes you feel good. The trek follows yak farms, Charming Sherpa’s settlement, traditional Buddhist villages, old historical monasteries, and many other beautiful places. Then conquer the Chola pass en route to Lobuche and Everest Base Camp, Return to Gorekshep and hike to Kala Patthar, and steep descent to Chhukhung. The locals and National Park Hotel have managed a good Trekkers lodge (Teahouse). You will also find a good camping site to camp in the lap of nature with natural surroundings.
The western section includes the steep ascent to the Renjo La, some four hours above the lake for stupendous views of the glacier and valley below, and numerous high ridges crowned by the Everest Group including the northwest face of Everest. The trail joins in Tengboche and heads to Monjo then back to Lukla for your flight back to Kathmandu.
