A piece of short and detailed information about Gosaikunda

Gosaikunda trek is a holy trek rewarded with a serene panorama of snow-capped mountains and numerous holy lakes. Gosaikunda Lake lies at the elevation of 4,380m inside Langtang National Park. UNESCO listed Gosaikunda as a Ramsar site on 29 September 2007. During winter, the lake remains frozen but for the rest of the year, the lake melts to form the Trisuli river.
This lake is a well-known pilgrimage site for Hindus. During Janai Purnima, thousands of Hindu devotees from all over the world visit this lake.
Gosaikunda Lake is not the only one we will witness during this Gosaikunda trek. This region has altogether 108 lakes including Sarawatikunda, Bhairabkunda & Suryakunda & Each of them has its own religious significance.
According to Hindu Mythology, it is believed that Lord Shiva has created this lake and is the adobe of Hindu deities Shiva and Gauri. The water of this trek is holy and can wash away all your sins if you take bath there.

Another major attraction of this trek is the great panoramic mountains we can witness during the trek. One of the most beautiful peaks visible during this trek is the Dorje Lakpa range ( 6,988m). Besides, we can witness numerous towering peaks like Ganesh Himal, Loribinayak Manaslu, and Langtang ranges.
During this 8 days Gosaikunda trek, we will be following the Dhunche-Gosainkunda trekking route. As it is a short and moderate-level trek, anyone with a normal physical condition can do it.
Following a quiet and pleasant trail running through different Tamang Villages, we can experience the cultural aspects and lifestyles of people there.
Walking around Langtang Conservation Area, we can witness many beautiful birds, butterflies & endangered animals like Red Panda, Himalayan Deer, etc.
If you are looking for a trek easily accessible from Kathmandu and has great natural, cultural & religious aspects, the Gosaikunda trek is perfect.

Best time for the Gosaikunda Trek

Gosaikunda Trek is doable all around the year. Spring and Autumn are considered the best season as this time the temperature will be comparatively high and easy for walking. In the Spring season, you will get to walk through the colorful trails in the first few days. Gosaikunda temperature decreases in the winter season but is best for those who love walking in the snow and want to enjoy the amazing frozen Gosaikunda lake. Also, many people travel during monsoon as well, because there is a festival called “ Janai Purnima” which falls normally during this monsoon season and this festival has great value to this lake. Though, with clean and clear weather, you can travel anytime around the year.
