Khair Trek (Khayar Trek) is a newly promote trekking destination in Nepal. It is also known as the gateway of the Annapurna region. It is an exciting adventure with beautiful views through remote and glacial wilderness below Khair Lake and Khopra ridge. This trek is for adventure lovers who want to do the popular Annapurna region trekking.”
With Nepal Dream Path Treks and Expedition, the Khair trek starts after a short drive to Phedi from Pokhara. After exploring the Khopra Ridge, the trail leads to the popular Annapurna trail of Ghorepani and Poonhill until back to Pokhara. It gives you a chance to witness the view of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Himchuli, Fishtail, and snow peaks. There are two Himalayan giants Dhaulagiri (the world’s 7th highest mountain) and Annapurna. These two giants also dominate the skyline and Kali Gandaki river (deepest gorge). Wildlife of this area includes the Himalayan Tahr, the Pikka, and the national bird of Nepal – the multi-colored Impeyan Pheasant. For the bird-watcher, this trek presents a variety of species with maximum numbers available during the spring. The trek also offers an exploration of a charming and traditional village.

30 minutes drive BB Plan Hotel/Resort
Nepal Dream Path Trek’s airport arrival and departure representative will meet you on arrival in Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and transfer you to your respective Hotels and help you till the check-in procedure ends. Nepal Dream Path Treks and Expedition will arrange a meeting or discussion program to introduce Nepal as well as your daily activities.
10am - 4pm BB Plan Hotel/Resort
On the first day or night in Kathmandu, you will be well informed regarding the time for your sightseeing tour in Kathmandu at places of interest. Kathmandu contains 7 World Heritage sites listed by UNESCO such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Swyambhu Nath (Monkey Temple), etc.
5-6 hrs drive or 25 min fly] BB Plan Hotel/Resort
Morning travel by bus or a car to Pokhara on the scenic highway, an interesting drive on the foothills of the Himalayas, on reaching Pokhara transfer to respective Hotels located at Lakeside (nearby the Phewa Lake) for the overnight stay. Or it takes half an hour flight to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu Airport.
1 hrs drive and 3-4 hrs walk All meals [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea/Coffee] Tea House
It takes one hour drive to reach Phedi, the starting point of trekking. Trek start ascending through the jungle and highland rice fields and generally walks up to the valley of Dhampus (1650 m) and Potana (1890 m) with exploring a view of Annapurna South, Himchuli, and machhapuchhre and the lifestyle of the Gurung community. Dinner and overnight stay at Tolka.
4-5 hours walk. All meals [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea/Coffee] Tea House
The journey begins with an easy walk through the jungle and staircase to Deurali (2100m) and passing through the experience of majestic views of Himalayas and descend with some time up till to Beehive through Oak and rhododendron forest, the beautiful village Tolka and Landruk. After that, ascend through the Ghandrunk exploring a view of many mountain ranges. Overnight at guesthouse or tea house.

The Day, our Journey begins with terraced fields of Ghandruk, our trail meanders along the zigzag path on a steep slope. We walk in the canopy under the age-old rhododendron and magnolia trees. We pass by waterfalls that cascade down narrow gullies that provide a perfect home for many small ferns and delicate plants. We finally reach Tadapani which is an ideal vantage point to glimpse the stunning Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machapuchare. Overnight at guesthouse or tea house.

Leaving the main trail that leads to Ghorepani we follow a rarely used trail through a thick rhododendron forest. The climb is gradual and we soon emerge above the tree line to superb views of the Annapurna range. We take lunch by a small stream and, in the afternoon, continue to climb gradually through open countryside to reach a small pass, where our trail descends through rhododendron to an open clearing, known as Bhaisi Kharka. Finally, reach Dobato. Dinner and overnight stay at Tea House Lodge.

We can see our destination for today from Dobato. Firstly, we start our journey through open ground and dense Himalayan forest to reach the pastures of lower Chistibung, where we take lunch. In the afternoon our trek ascends through dwarf rhododendron. Reach Chistibung, for dinner, and overnight at a guesthouse or tea house.
5-6hrs walk All meals [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea/Coffee] Tea House
The ridge of Khopra is our destination for today. The first bit of walking is through the forest and slowly with the gain in altitude landscape changes to alpine with fewer trees. We climb steadily to Khopra ridge. This area is noted for wildlife and we should keep our eyes open for Himalayan Thar and Daphe pheasant. Occasionally we might also see the yaks grazing in the field. Once atop this ridge, we contour around the grass alpine meadows to our campsite at Khopra ridge in time for lunch. The view from here is just stunning. The mountains you could see from here are Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Annapurna Fang, Annapurna South, Tukuche Peak, Nilgiri, and several other mountains. Overnight at guesthouse or tea house.
If you are feeling fit and enthusiastic, then a hike up to Khair Lake should not be missed. We make a gradual climb up to the High Camp which is a flat piece of land and then the trail climbs steeply to the holy lake of Khair and several holy shrines where thousands of Hindu pilgrims visit annually to pay homage during the Bhadau Purnima Festival which happens in August and September. For those wishing for an easier option, a walk high on the ridge will provide fantastic views. After visiting the lake we come back down to our campsite at Khopra Ridge for an afternoon cup of tea. Overnight at guesthouse or tea house.
4-5 hrs walk All meals [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea/Coffee] Tea House
We descend downhill to Chistibung and a little bit further down just by the side of a stream we will stop for lunch. Today's walk is mostly through the rhododendron and oak forest. Occasionally we will meet villagers and the shepherds going through their daily chores. We finally reach Swatha, a village settled on open flat ground. The view of Dhaulagiri from here is just incredible. Overnight at guesthouse or tea house.
3-4 hrs walk All meals [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea/Coffee] Tea House
A short walk brings us to Chitre where we will join the old Tibetan route. We will see a trail of mules transporting goods to the villages above. From here to Ghorepani, you will be walking through the rhododendron and oak forest which looks beautiful in the spring when the flowers are out. Ghorepani is a very colorful village with mountains like Dhaulagiri Annapurna's and Machapuchere in the background. Ghorepani means, "horse-water" and it is a welcome watering spot not only for teams of ponies but also for weary trekkers. Overnight at guesthouse or tea house.
5-6 hrs walk All meals [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea/Coffee] Tea House
In the morning after having a cup of tea we will ascent the famous Poon Hill for the stunning views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Tukuche Peak, Machapuchare, and many others. After spending some great moments at the top we will come back down to Ghorepani for Breakfast. What goes up must come down today it applies in our itinerary so it is a long descent through magnificent rhododendron and oak forests to Ulleri where we will stop for a lunch. From Ulleri, we continue our walk to reach Birethati. Overnight at guesthouse or tea house.
45min walk and 1.5 hrs drive BB Plan Hotel/Resort
Birethati, is a large prosperous village and ancient trade center with Tibet. From here Nayapul is just 25 minute walk from where we will board the bus to Pokhara. The rest of the afternoon in Pokhara is free so you can enjoy boating in the Fewa Lake with some wonderful sunset views. Overnight at hotel on B/B board basic.
As today is the rest day in Pokhara at your request Your guide will take you out for a sightseeing tour in Pokhara. there you can take advantage of boating at Phewa lake, paragliding, and many more. Overnight Stay.
5-6 hours drive or 25min fly BB Plan Hotel/Resort
As per the flight time a short drive to Pokhara airport, a short scenic sweeping flight of 30 minutes brings you to Kathmandu, after clearing the baggage; Nepal Dream Path Treks staff will receive you and drive you back to Hotel. Or we can use a regular Tourist coach from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
Today as per international flight time, Nepal Dream Path Treks staff will transfer you to the airport for your final departure from this picturesque, scenic Himalayan country, Nepal.
