trip Overview

Muktinath Temple trek is one of the most admired and classic pilgrimage site tours in Nepal. Muktinath (3800m) being the highest point of the trek, this trek is suitable for anyone having a moderate fitness level. This trek is a part of the Annapurna Circuit trek and the perfect trek to experience the vibe of the Himalayas in a short time period. This is a short trek yet it has the capability to give you a lifetime experience.

Our trek starts from Kathmandu heading towards the City of Lakes, Pokhara also known as the Dreamland of Nepal. A short domestic flight from Pokhara to Jomsom enjoying a magnificent view of snow-capped mountains and Green giant hills right in front of our eyes is fascinating. A short trek to Kagbeni following Kaligandaki River Bank and a scenic panorama of the Mountains increase the excitement of this trek. Kaligandaki River Bank is famous for fossilized ammonites, known as Saligram. According to Hinduism, Saligram is a form of Hindu Lord Vishnu and people use to worship it. Kagbeni is a beautiful village also known as the gateway to Upper Mustang. We can witness breathtaking views of 8 out of the 20 highest mountains in the world including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Nilgiri.

As Muktinath is a pilgrimage site of both Hindus and Buddhists, it is a symbol of religious equality between Hindus and Buddhists in this area. In Hinduism, this site is also known as Mukti Kshetra which means a sacred place of Salvation. They strongly believe that visiting this site within a lifetime guarantees salvation after death. Mesmerizing Temple located at a high altitude, 108 water sprouts and burning eternal flame are highlights of this pilgrimage site. Jomsom is an administrative and commercial center as well as the headquarters of the district. This windy valley is famous for quick entry and exit flights.

Overall, the diversity of this place is spectacular. From deep valleys to sky-high mountains, subtropical rhododendron jungle to a high dry land resembling Tibetan Plateau is magnificent. In the lower area, the majority of the population is Hindus but as the altitude climbs up, Buddhists dominate Hindus. The diversity of the culture, the tradition between Hindus and Buddhists, and the lifestyle of the people are amazing to experience.
