Kathmandu Valley Short Trek is really an enjoyable trip in Nepal and historically known as Nepal Valley. It lies at the crossroads of ancient civilizations of Asia and has at least 130 important monuments, including several pilgrimage sites for Hindu and Buddhist. It can be done by every age group of people. There are seven World Heritage Site within the valley.

Short Itinerary


Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu 1,300m and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: In Kathmandu with a day sightseeing tour around World Heritage Sites.
Day 03: Drive to Kakani [2,073m] trek to Narayan Bhanjyang [2 hrs drive & 4 hrs walk].
Day 04: Trek to Shivapuri Danda-ridge [2,563m] [5 hrs walk].
Day 05: Trek to Chisapani [2,340m] [4 hrs walk].
Day 06: Trek to Nagarkot [2,100m] [6 hrs walk].
Day 07: Trek to Dhulikhel [1,550m] [6 hrs walk].
Day 08: Drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 09: In Kathmandu free day.
Day 10: Transfer for international departure.

After your first night in Kathmandu, you will be well informed on arrival about the time for your half day guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu at places of interest, Kathmandu is full of world heritage sites.

The trip begins with an hour drive to Kakani, situated to the North West of Kathmandu, the hilltop is recommended for its quiet surroundings and skyline views of Mt. Gauri Shanker, Langtang, Chobba Bhamare, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, and Himal-chuli. Trek begins with a slow climb to the ridge on route Pataswar Bhanjyang with a view of Ganesh, Manaslu and Langtang a small hill farm village, trek lead through farm fields and in the cool shade of the forest to Narayan Bhanjyang after 4 hours of a good walk. Views of Kathmandu Valley can be seen from this beautiful spot.

Trek continues towards the northern highest point of this trek at Shivapuri ridge, following the gradual path for some time, with the last portion of a steep climb to the Shivapuri ridge for the overnight stop. Shivapuri offers wildlife sighting along with the views of the great western, central and eastern range of mountains in this serene location.

Morning catch the sunrise with views of Langtang & Jugal mountain range, the walk is on gradual path in the beautiful woods of oaks, pines, and rhododendron, walk follows short downhill path with two more hours of pleasant trekking through the serene forest, and then coming out of the forest to a clearing at Chisopani ridge, where the trail from Shivapuri, Kathmandu and Helambu and Gosainkund joins. Chisopani, a small village situated on the ridge overlooking stunning scenery of the Jugal Himal range and Annapurna to the far west with Gaurishanker and Number towards east.

After a great time at Chisopani with morning views of the sunrise over the Himalayan range of mountains. This wonderful walk continues on the gradual downhill trail towards southeast following the dirt road, after an hour on the good road switch back to the off beaten path downhill to Chowki bhanjyang, on reaching Chowkibhanjyang a small farm village overlooking the eastern side of the Kathmandu valley rim. From here trek continues on the gradual path for few hours passing through Jarsing Pawa 1,700m, at Jarsing Pawa route diverts to the upper level on the small path, and then descend for short distance to Kartike Shenyang. From this place an hour climb on the wide trail to the famed hill village at Nagarkot for the overnight stop. Nagarkot, at a height of 2,100 meters above sea level, this hilltop is visited for viewing beautiful sunrises and sunsets and visitors take delight in the layout of the Kathmandu Valley below, on a clear day Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal. Gauri Shanker can be seen from this very spot.

From Nagarkot with striking views of the sunrise over the magnificent snow-capped mountains, walk follows the winding path with few gentle uphills and some gradual section, passing through number of farm villages and cultivated terraced field on this isolated area, this region is rarely trekked by westerners, it will be a pleasant walk on this less-visited route for a while till it joins at Dhulikhel, one of the best Mountain Resorts around the valley rim for panoramic views of mountain range, this old Newar town lies beyond the eastern rim of the Valley with comfortable lodging for extended trips, overnight at Dhulikhel.
