Tengboche Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu valley of Nepal. It is located on the way to Everest Base Camp. This Tengboche Monastery is one of the important and the largest monastery mostly for buddhist people in the entire region. It is also a central Hub for insightful resources into the life of Sherpas. They had migrated from Tibet around six hundred years ago in this region.

Nepal Dream Path Treks presents “Everest Tengboche Monastery Trekking” as one of the most exciting and interesting short treks in the Everest region of Khumbu valley. This cultural trek leads us to the remarkable adventure with an experience of a lifetime. Trekkers can enjoy the beauty of the high landscapes in the Khumbu valley within Sagarmatha National Park. This trip is a combination of all highlights visiting the old historical monasteries, traditional Sherpa villages, and old Nepali culture in the shade of high giant peaks. This trip also includes Mt. Everest with unmatched viewpoints of Tengboche overlooking Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Everest, and Mt. Lhotse and also other peaks of over 6,000 to 7,000 meters.

After this remarkable trip, our route leads back to Lukla for the scenic short flight to Kathmandu. Additionally, Our Trek ends up having an awesome time in the high mountains and valley with a great memory.

Short Itinerary


Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu 1,340m and transfer to the hotel
Day 02: A day in Kathmandu with a half-day sightseeing tour [Optional]
Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,800m and trek to Phakding 2,650 m.[45 min fly and 3 hours walk]
Day 04: To Namche Bazaar 3,440m. [5-6 hours walk]
Day 05: Rest Day at Namche Bazaar.
Day 06: Trek to Khunde [3840m] and Khumjung [3-4 hours walk]
Day 07: Trek to Tengboche 3,867m.[Approx 5 hours walk]
Day 08: Trek to Namche Bazaar [5-6 hours walk]
Day 09: Trek to Phakding 2,630m [4-5 hours walk]
Day 10: Trek back to Lukla. Approx distance: [3-4 hours walk]
Day 11: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel.[45 min fly and 30 min by car]
Day 12: Transfer to Airport for the International departure.[30 min by car]

30m drive BB Plan Hotel/Resort

At Kathmandu international airport Nepal Dream Path Treks staff will be there to welcome you and transfer you to your Hotel. After the check-in procedure ends, Nepal Dream Path Treks staff or guide will brief us on the Hotel, Kathmandu, Trekking, do's and don’ts with related information that might require while in Nepal with us.


On the first day or night in Kathmandu, you will be well informed regarding the time for your sightseeing tour in Kathmandu at places of interest.

45m fly, 3hrs walk All meals [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea/Coffee] Tea House

Nepal Dream Path staff transfer you to the domestic airport for a scenic flight to Lukla, on arrival meet our guides. At Lukla you will have time to visit around, while the Sherpa crew sort and divide the load, lunch depending upon the time of arrival either in Lukla or a few hours treks further on route to Phakding. The first-day trek on the gradual path all the way, with few ups offering views of Mt. Kusum-Kangru 6,369 m 2-3 hrs of gradual walk brings you to Phakding village for the overnight stop.


5-6 hrs walk All meals [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea/Coffee] Tea House

From Phakding on crossing the bridge over the River Dudh-Kosi, the walk is pleasant with a few short uphill and downhill and re-crossing the same river again, with the magnificent view of Thermasharkhu 6,608m, reaching Monjo village. After spending some time at Monjo, walk to the entrance gate of Sagarmatha National Park, from here a short descent with a gradual walk to Jorsalle village is reached, the last village till Namche Bazaar, with a pleasant walk on the river bed till to the last bridge over the Imaja-tse river, from here trek along the winding uphill path all the way to Namche Bazaar, with grand views of Kwande peak, Kusum Kanguru  & Mt. Everest with Nuptse wall, Lhotse and the closer view of Taweche peak can be seen all the way up, another hour walk up reaches to Namche Bazaar, the colorful houses are situated in an amphitheater landscape.


A rest day with a short walk for acclimatization to Sagarmatha National Park Headquarters. A panoramic view spot on top of Namche Bazaar with surrounding snow-capped mountains, valleys scenery visit the museum with all kinds of information related to the history of Himalayas, Geography, Culture, Mountaineering, and flora and fauna of this region. After leisure time for the activities of your interest.


3-4 hrs walk All meals during trek ( breakfast, lunch, dinner) Tea House

Today walk climbs up from Namche towards Syangboche following the quiet trail to Khunde and Khumjung the largest Sherpa villages in the Khumbu region. The trek leads towards Syangboche a small airstrip, an hour's walk is a strenuous climb overlooking striking views of Mt.Kwangde, Thermasherkhu, and other close peaks and an aerial view of Namche Bazaar on reaching Khunde village situated in the glacial valley as Khumjung village beneath the sacred Mt.Khumbila 5,761m.


4-5 hrs walk All meals during trek ( breakfast, lunch, dinner) Tea House

A moderate walk for the first half an hour around the Khumjung village. After the Khumjung village, mostly downhill with views of great snow peaks from Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thermasharkhu, and Kwangde-Ri peak. After a pleasant walk of three hours reaching Phungitenga 3,250m, in the midst of alpine woods silver fir blue pines, rhododendron, and a few magnolia and birch trees. From here a strenuous climb for two hours on the winding path to Tengboche Monastery for the overnight stop. This beautiful spot offers views of the majestic peak Ama Dablam with Everest above Nuptse in the north and Mt. Lhotse, Lhotse Shar towards the northeast.

After a wonderful time at Tengboche retrace the journey back to Namche Bazaar enjoying the surrounding scenery and views of the high mountains.

An easy day downhill walk today, from Namche it’s a long descent to the Dudh Koshi river bed. As the walking progress on this steep downhill retraces the journey all the way to Phakding for the overnight.


3-4 hrs walk All meals [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea/Coffee] Tea House

Last day of this great adventure and a nice walk to Lukla, enjoying the lush green scenery around. Apart from a few short uphills, the only long climb will be just before Lukla takes about an hour from the old big oak tree. On reaching Lukla, prepare for the last day dinner and party with Sherpa staff, porters, and trekking members.


45m fly and 30m drive BB Plan Hotel/Resort

The flight time to Kathmandu is in the morning but sometimes the flight time can be delayed due to technical problems or mostly due to bad weather. The flight takes about 30 minutes to reach Kathmandu, and a panoramic view of the snow-capped peaks can be seen during the flight. At Kathmandu air terminal, DP Treks staff receives and transfers you back to the respective hotels.


Today as per your international flight time, Nepal Dream Path Treks staff transferred you to the airport for your final departure from this high magic Himalayan country, Nepal cherishing the quality time we had during the Tengboche monastery trek.
