Tengboche Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu valley of Nepal. It is located on the way to Everest Base Camp. This Tengboche Monastery is one of the important and the largest monastery mostly for buddhist people in the entire region. It is also a central Hub for insightful resources into the life of Sherpas.  They had migrated from Tibet around six hundred years ago in this region.

Nepal Dream Path Treks presents “Everest Tengboche Monastery Trekking” as one of the most exciting and interesting short treks in the Everest region of Khumbu valley. This cultural trek leads us to the remarkable adventure with an experience of a lifetime. Trekkers can enjoy the beauty of the high landscapes in the Khumbu valley within Sagarmatha National Park. This trip is a combination of all highlights visiting the old historical monasteries, traditional Sherpa villages old Nepali culture in the shade of high giant peaks. This trip also includes Mt. Everest with unmatched viewpoints of Tengboche overlooking Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse and also other peaks of over 6,000 to 7,000 meters.

After this remarkable trip, Nepal Dream Path Treks route leads back to Lukla for the scenic short flight to Kathmandu. Our Trek ends up having an awesome time in the high mountains and valley with a great memory.

Short Itinerary


Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu 1,340m and transfer to hotel.
Day 02: A day in Kathmandu with a half day sightseeing tour.
Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,800m and trek to Phakding 2,650 m.[45 min fly and 3 hours walk]
Day 04: To Namche Bazaar 3,440m. [5-6 hours walk]
Day 05: Rest Day at Namche Bazaar.
Day 06: Trek to Khunde [3840m] and Khumjung [3-4 hours walk]
Day 07: Trek to Tengboche 3,867m.[Approx 5 hours walk]
Day 08: Trek to Namche Bazaar [5-6 hours walk]
Day 09: Trek to Phakding 2,630m [4-5 hours walk]
Day 10: Trek back to Lukla. Approx distance: [3-4 hours walk]
Day 11: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.[45 min fly and 30 min by car]
Day 12: Transfer to Airport for the International departure.[30 min by car]

45m fly,3hrs walk All meals [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea/Coffee] Tea House

Nepal Dream Path staff transfer you to the domestic airport for a scenic flight to Lukla, on arrival meet our guides. At Lukla you will have time to visit around, while the Sherpa crew sort and divide the load, lunch depending upon the time of arrival either in Lukla or few hours treks further on route to Phakding. The first-day trek on the gradual path all the way, with few ups offering views of Mt. Kusum-Kangru 6,369 m 2-3 hrs of gradual walk brings you at Phakding village for the overnight stop.


5-6 hrs walk All meals [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea/Coffee] Tea House

From Phakding on crossing bridge over the River Dudh-Kosi the walk is pleasant with few short uphill and downhill and re-crossing the same river again, with magnificent view of Thermasharkhu 6,608m, reaching at Monjo village, after Monjo, walk to the entrance gate of Sagarmatha National Park, from here a short descend with a gradual walk to Jorsalle village is reached, the last village till Namche Bazaar, with pleasant walk on the river bed till to the last bridge over the Imaja-tse river, from here trek along the winding uphill path all the way to Namche Bazaar, with grand views of Kwande peak, Kusum Kanguru  & Mt. Everest with Nuptse wall, Lhotse and the closer view of Taweche peak can be seen all the way up, another hour walk up reaches to Namche Bazaar, the colorful houses are situated in an amphitheatre landscapes.


A rest day with short walk for acclimatisation to Sagarmatha National Park Headquarter, a panoramic view spot on top of Namche Bazaar with surrounding snow-capped mountains, valleys scenery visit the museum with all kinds of information history of  Himalaya, Geography, Culture, Mountaineering and on flora and fauna of this region, afternoon free at leisure.

Today walk climbs up to Namche towards Syangboche following the quiet trail to Khunde and Khumjung the largest Sherpa villages in the Khumbu region, trek leads towards Syangboche a small airstrip, an hour walk is strenuous climb overlooking striking views of Mt.Kwangde, Thermasherkhu and other close peaks and an aerial view of Namche Bazaar on reaching Khunde village situated in the glacial valley as Khumjung village beneath the sacred Mt.Khumbila 5,761m.


4-5 hrs walk All meals during trek ( breakfast, lunch, dinner) Tea House

A moderate walk for the first half around the Khumjung village after the Khumjung village mostly downhill with views of  great snow peaks from Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thermasharkhu and Kwangde-Ri peak after pleasant walk of three hours reaching at Phungitenga 3,250m, in the midst of alpine woods silver fir blue pines, rhododendron and some few magnolia and birch trees. From here a strenuous climb for two hours on the winding path to Thyangboche Monastery for the overnight stop. This beautiful spot offers views of the majestic peak Ama Dablam with Everest above Nuptse in the north and Mt. Lhotse, Lhotse Shar towards the northeast.

After a wonderful time at Tengboche retrace the journey back to Namche Bazaar enjoying the surrounding scenery and views of the high mountains.

An easy day downhill walk today, from Namche it’s a long descend to the Dudh Koshi river bed. As the walking progress on this steep downhill retraces the journey all the way to Phakding for the overnight.


3-4 hrs walk All meals [Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Tea/Coffee] Tea House

Last day of this great adventure a nice walk to Lukla, enjoying the lush green scenery around, apart from few short uphill the only long climb will be just before Lukla takes about an hour from the old big oak tree. On reaching Lukla, prepare for the last day dinner and party with Sherpa staff, porters and trekking members.


45m fly and 30m drive BB Plan Hotel/Resort

The flight time to Kathmandu at morning sometime the flight time can be delayed due to bad weather and other reason, as per the flight time takes about 30 minutes to reach Kathmandu, a panoramic view of the snow capped peaks can be seen during the flight. At Kathmandu air terminal, DP Treks staff receives and transfer you back to respective hotels.


Today as per your international flight time, Nepal Dream Path Treks staff transfer you to the airport for your final departure from this high magic Himalayan country, Nepal with a big memory of Tengboche monastery.
