Chisapani Nagarkot Trek is a short yet best trek to explore the natural beauty and local culture in a limited time near Kathmandu Valley. Chisapani Nagarkot Trek is the trek inside Shivapuri National Park. It offers magnificent mountain views, beautiful cultural villages, terraces, dense forests of rhododendrons, oaks, and pines as well as tantalizing sunrise-sunset views over the mountains from Nagarkot and Chisapani.
Shivapuri National Park is the only national park in the whole world that touches the capital city and is also popular for hiking near Kathmandu. The walk is almost through the forest as well as through some beautiful villages. The Chisapani Nagarkot trek offers different experiences by avoiding the crowd and noise of Kathmandu within a distance of a couple of hours. In this trek, we will reach the peaceful and fresh environment near from valley and take a fresh breath.
The Chisapani Nagarkot treks with Nepal Dream Path Treks start after a short drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal. Then, the trail gradually climbs up to Chisapani. This short trek near Kathmandu offers a panoramic view of Mt. Langtang, Gauri Shankar Himal, Jugal Himal, Everest massif, and other snow-covered peaks. Shivapuri Hill 2400m is the maximum altitude point of this trek. The Nepali word Chisapani is “cold water” and we can find very cold water even in the summer season too. In a short period, you will get an opportunity to learn about the lifestyle of the people around the Kathmandu Valley. This trip provides you with an opportunity to explore the rich craftsmanship of Bhaktapur as well as the ancient Hindu temple “Changunarayan” which are listed as world heritage sites by UNESCO.

Short Itinerary


Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel. 
Day 02: Sightseeing Kathmandu includes world heritage sites by UNESCO.
Day 03: Drive to Sundarijal and Hike to Chisapani [2,215m] [1 & half hr Drive and 3-4 hrs walk].
Day 04: Trek from Chisapani to Nagarkot [2,195m] [4-5 hrs walk].
Day 05: Walk to Changu Narayan and drive back to Kathmandu [2 hrs walk and half an hour Drive].
Day 06: Final Departure.

Detail Itinerary

A Representative member from Nepal Dream Path will meet and welcome you at Tribhuwan International Airport and transfer you to your hotel and help you with the check-in procedure at Hotel. Nepal Dream Path treks will arrange a meeting or a discussion program to introduce Nepal as well as your daily activities during the trek.


10am - 4pm BB plan Hotel/resort

At your request, Nepal Dream Path Treks will organize a sightseeing tour around the most interesting places around Kathmandu especially those which are listed on a world heritage site.


1/2 hr Drive and 4 hrs walk All meals includes- Breakfast, Lunch,Dinner, Tea/Coffee Tea House

After having morning breakfast, we will drive to Sundarijal about 45 minutes northeast of Kathmandu Valley. From here, the trek will start on foot. The trail will enter through Shiva Puri National Park with fascinating views of Sundarijal Waterfall and watershed which is supplied to Kathmandu Valley as drinking water. The trail will gradually climb up to Mulkharka, a habitant of the Tamang community. After that, the trail will head down to the ridge through the dense forest of oaks and rhododendrons to Chisapani. Stay overnight at the tea house.


4-5 hrs walk All meals includes- Breakfast, Lunch,Dinner, Tea/Coffee Tea House

Today after having breakfast, we will continue crossing the small village throughout the hill with the chirping sound of the bird during the forest trail. Continue walking passes Jhule and Chauki Bhanjyang. We will have lunch there and continue walking towards Nagarkot, one of the most popular tourist places. During the trek of this day, you will pass several small villages and terraced fields with a fabulous view of Dhaulagiri as well as Everest to Kanchenjunga. Overnight stay at tea house.


2 hrs walk and 1/2 hrs drive All meals during trek ( breakfast, lunch, dinner) Tea House

Today, the trail will descend to Changunarayan after having morning breakfast.  It will take about 2 hours. We will pass through terraced fields and local villages inhabitant by Tamang and Newar as well as green forests until ChanguNarayan, the oldest medieval Hindu temple in Nepal. Changunarayan Temple was built in the 4th century during the Lichhavi King Mandev period. We will have lunch there and drive back to Kathmandu by private car. It will take about 1 hour.


Today is your last day in Nepal and our staff will drop you at the airport according to the time of your flight. We will ensure that you will leave Kathmandu with a lifetime memory from this trip with Nepal Dream Path Treks.

What to bring

Nepal trekking route brings you to approx. 5500 m altitude from 500 m. As we go to higher altitudes, there will be a change in temperature, oxygen level, and pressure. In order to make your trip successful, you will certainly need some trekking equipment and gears on the way.
