Mt. Dhaulagiri Expedition is one of the most adventurous expeditions in the Himalayas of Nepal. In fact, Word Dhaulagiri is a combination of two Sanskrit words ‘Dhavala’ and ‘Giri’. ‘Dhavala’ means white and ‘Giri’ means peak. This mountain is the seventh highest mountain in the world and also fifth highest among the mountains of Nepal. Mt Dhaulagiri is an enormous Himalayan massif located in the northwest of Myagdi district. Also, This site is famous for a round trek.

Apart from that, the Western world discovered Mt. Dhaulagiri in 1808.  After its discovery, it replaced Ecuador’s Chimborazo (20,561 ft.) as the postulated highest mountain in the world. It maintained this standing for nearly 30 years until the discovery of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Comparatively, Dhaulagiri Expedition is considered as the most formidable and difficult peak to climb. The first successful climb to the summit was from the Swiss/Austrian expedition team in 1960.
