Upper Mustang Trek offers a spectacular trekking experience in the Himalaya country Nepal. This is a hidden kingdom and rare authorization trek in Dhaulagiri zone of Nepal. Within the boundaries of Nepal, Mustang district was the separate kingdom until 1950.
Upper Mustang 17 days trek begins in Kathmandu with tours of UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then we drive to Pokhara and the next day flies to Jomsom for trekking. It is a cultural trekking area that brings you close to the Tibetan culture and geography. Lo-Manthang is the capital city and also the home of the king in Mustang. The most amazing area of this place is the royal palace and beautiful monasteries like Thugchen Gompa. This area was a restricted area and it was re-opened for non-Nepali trekkers in 1992 A.D. So, Trekkers need a special permit and also adjoining with local agencies.
Upper Mustang Trek is similar to Tibet trekking. You will be familiar with the true mountain people who are not much touch with the rest of Nepal for hundreds of years.
Short Itinerary
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu, transfer to hotel
Day 02: Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu
Day 03: Fly to Pokhara; sightseeing and boating in Pokhara
Day 04: Fly to Jomsom [2,800m] and trek to Kagbeni [2,810m] [20min fly and 3-4 hrs walk]
Day 05: Trek from Kagbeni to Chele [3,080m] [5-6 hrs walk]
Day 06: Trek from Chele to Ghilling [3,570m] [7-8 hrs walk]
Day 07: Trek from Ghilling to Charang / Tsarang [3,560m] [6-7 hrs walk]
Day 08: Trek from Charang to Lo Manthang [3,840m] [4-5 hrs walk]
Day 09: Rest and explore the Mustang Kingdom Lo Manthang
Day 10: Trek from Lo Manthang to Dhakmar [3,820m] vai Gar Gumpa [6-7 hrs walk]
Day 11: Trek from Dhakmar to Syanboche [3,800m] [5-6 hrs walk]
Day 12: Trek from Syanboche to Chhusang [2980m] [5-6 hrs walk]
Day 13: Trek from Chhusang to Muktinath [3,760m] [5-6 hrs walk]
Day 14: Trek from Muktinath to Jomsom [2,800m] [4-6 hrs walk]
Day 15: Fly back to Pokhara and overnight in the hotel
Day 16: Fly to Kathmandu and overnight stay at the hotel

Detail Itinerary
35m drive BB plan Hotel/resort
Nepal Dream Path Treks staff will meet you at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to your respective Hotels, the Nepal Dream Path Treks guide will brief you about day-to-day detailed information about Upper Mustang Trek in Nepal that you might require while in Nepal. Overnight in Kathmandu.
6 hrs drive or 25 min fly BB plan Hotel/resort
After breakfast in the morning, we will transfer to Tribhuwan International Airport domestic terminal as per the flight time after the scenic flight to Pokhara, then transfer to Hotel nearby Fewa Lake. Full day free to visit and sightseeing around the touristic city Pokhara. Evening free for boating at Fewa Lake.

After a delicious breakfast transfer to the airport and a scenic mountain flight to Jomsom after that trek start to the North West side bypassing the gateway between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain range. The trail gives you full of entertainment and excitement moment with the high mountains and deepest gorge of the world. The walks finally reach you to Kagbeni for an overnight stay.
4-5 hrs walk All meals during trek ( breakfast, lunch, dinner) Tea House
Our Himalayan journey continues with the uphill trails towards the east bank of Kali Gandaki after an hour of climbing, the trailheads to the north side passing the small and noiseless village Tangbe after reaching Chusang village the trail follows the southern part of Kagbenithrough whitewashed houses, fields of buckwheat, barley, wheat and apple gardens. Then the trail crosses the Kaligandaki and leaves the Kali Gandaki valley then climbs steeply up a rocky gully to Chaile. overnight stay at Chele.
7-8 hrs walk All meals during trek ( breakfast, lunch, dinner) Tea House
Our journey leads to the steeply up trail along the side of the spectacular steep canyon to a pass and rocky trail crossing many villages, jungles, rice fields as well as follows amazing uphill and downhill trails with a splendid view of Mount Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and many other snow-covered peaks. Finally reaching the Ghilling then dinner and overnight stay at Ghilling.
7-8 hrs walk All meals during trek ( breakfast, lunch, dinner) Tea House
The trail continues to Ghami village [3,520m] and crosses a small bridge that connects the amazing MANI prayer wall with the village. Charang La pass, which is another spectacular pass on this day's itinerary and finally reaches Charang after an hour's walk from Charang la. Overnight stay at Charang.
4-5 hrs walk All meals during trek ( breakfast, lunch, dinner) Tea House
A short walk to Lo Manthang from Charang with firstly down step and goes steeply up after crossing a small steel bridge. The day contains to visit the mysterious kingdom of Upper Mustang Lo Manthang overnight at Tea House.
This is a rest day where you feel relaxed and witness the views surrounding & visit the monastery. Nepal Dream Path Treks guide will arrange to visit the Mustang Kingdom.
6-7 walk All meals, breakfast, dinner Tea House
The trail leads to the southwest from Lo Manthang with beautiful scenery and great snow-covered peaks after that the trail continues with green mid-hills way and reaches the highest point of this trip Pangta [4,200m], then crosses the Charang River and reach Gar Gumpa. Dinner and overnight stay at Dhakmar.
5-6 hrs walk All meals, breakfast, dinner Tea House
After breakfast, our trekking starts by following the small stream and through the field and passing the stupa then reaching the Mui La [4170m] the trail goes to NYI la via the Ghami village, crosses the scenic pass, and continues to Syangboche. Dinner and overnight stay at Syanboche.
5-6 hrs walk All meals, breakfast, dinner Tea House
After a delicious breakfast, we will continue our trek from Syanboche to Chhusang and overnight stay in the lodge.

The trail follows to the Northeast from Chusang with the tantalizing view of mountains and the wonderful flow of wind which also may help to make a trip adventurous after reaching Muktinath, take dinner and overnight stay.

This is the last day of trekking where the trail goes through the Jharkot village where we can visit attractive monasteries like Jharkot Monastery and the old fortress of Jharkot and then again continue trek towards Jomsom via Kagbeni village.
20m fly BB Plan Hotel/Resort
After 20 minutes, the flight takes us from Jomsom & back to Pokhara. Once we arrive at Pokhara airport, then, we drive to the hotel. In the evening, we will go for a sightseeing tour of Pokhara valley, or we can feel free for personal activities.
30min fly/30m drive BB plan Hotel/Resort
Today as per your international flight time, Nepal Dream Path Treks staff will transfer you to the airport for your final departure from this wonderful high Himalayan country, Nepal with the wonderful memory of Upper Mustang and Lo Manthang trek in Nepal with us.
