Nepal first introduced ropeways in 1922 for cargo services, but the first cable car was introduced in 1998, the Manakamana Cable Car. Many temples, including the Goddess Kali temples, are on top of hills throughout Nepal. They attract thousands of tourists as well as pilgrims from abroad every year. There are currently, four cable cars in operation or being built throughout Nepal, and three are extremely popular.
Manakamana Cable Car
It is located in Kurintar, which is 104 km southwest of Kathmandu. It is easy to get there by cable car. This cable car station covers 2.8 km. The lower station is located 258 m above sea level, while the higher point is approximately 1302 m above. The spectacular views of Annapurna Himalayan Ranges and Manaslu are visible from the temple’s Northside. Around the Manakamana temple is a market. There are shops selling handicrafts, weapons, and restaurants. Manakamana Cable Car Group also operates a restaurant at Manakamana’s Main Station.
Goddess Bhagawati is the focus of the Manakamana temple. The name ‘Mana’ refers to desires, while ‘Kamana’ refers to wishes. It is a wish for the fulfillment of your desires. The belief is that the goddess will fulfill wishes if someone comes to the temple and makes a wish. This temple is visited by many people every year via the Cable car in Kurintar.
Chandragiri Cable Car
Chandragiri Hill is located near Kathmandu and was established in 2016. It’s a hilltop overlooking the majestic Himalayas, including Annapurna Himalayan Ranges and Everest Himalayan Ranges. A cable car is the shortest way to get there. These 38 gondolas can carry one thousand passengers per hour. It takes approximately 8 minutes to reach Chandragiri’s top. The lower station is 2.5 km away.
Chandragiri Hills has so many activities. There are many things to do in Chandragiri Hills, including shopping malls, playgrounds, and children’s parks. The Chandragiri Cable car is an excellent ride for those who want to escape monotony and enjoy the beauty of nature. In Chandragiri Hills, a boutique hotel will be built that will feature interactive natural history, Paragliding, and a Zipline adventure park.
Kalinchowk Cable Car
Kalinchowk Bhagwati temple is a popular Hindu Shrine. It’s located in Dolakha (Nepal). It is located at 3755m above sea level. In November 2018, the cable car was inaugurated. The cable car runs from Kuri village to Kalinchowk temple. This is a popular spot near Kathmandu Valley. Many people visit Kalinchowk Bhagawati temple to offer prayers.
From Kalinchowk top, Langtang Himal, Ganesh Himal, Shisha Pangma, Dorje Lakpa, Jugal Himal, Gauri Shankar, etc. On clear days, the view from Kathmandu’s outskirts can be seen. Kalinchowk is famous for its snowy fun during winter.
Sarangkot Cable Car
